Fly - There are commuter flights from San José to either Palmar Sur or Quepos. Both are about 30 miles from Uvita, but Palmar Sur is a better choice (only a 30 min drive north on the smoothly paved Costanera (Coastal Hwy)); the road from Quepos is not paved (is very bumpy) and can take about 1-1/2 to 2 hours to drive south to Uvita.

Driving to Dominical
Rule Number 2: DO NOT LEAVE SAN JOSE AFTER 2:00 PM AS RULE NUMBER 1 IS DO NOT DRIVE AFTER DARK. It is OK to drive to restaurants in the Dominical/Uvita area at night but due to poor lighting, the curvy roads, the pot holes, fog and locals walking on the roads in dark clothing, you do not want to drive any distance. Stay in San Jose for a night and enjoy a nice dinner and leave the next morning. Contact us for Hotel recommendations.
